About Course:
The STCW Course for Basic Safety Training (BST) and Security Training for
Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STSDSD) is a 14-day combined
certification course that is required for all seafarers who intend to work onboard
commercial merchant vessels.
STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) is an international
convention that ensures the standardization of training in the maritime industry. The
STCW course in Mumbai provides seafarers with basic safety skills and knowledge
through a combination of four courses, viz., elementary first aid, personal survival
techniques, fire prevention & fire-fighting, and personal safety & social responsibility.
The STCW course also trains students about security systems and security threat
recognition and response. The course offers the minimum level of qualification that is
a must for every seafarer to gain familiarization with maritime work environments and
decrease the chances of unfortunate incidents at sea.
The STCW BST certificate is valid for 5 years, after which you will need to undertake
the STCW Refresher Course.
Section A: Basic Safety Training (BST)

The FPFF course provides students with knowledge of fire prevention and trains them to take the right measures in emergency fire situations by building competency in basic fire-fighting techniques.
The PST course provides seafarers with essential survival knowledge, teaching them how to survive in the event of ship abandonment, usage of survival crafts, and other principles of survival.
Section B: Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STSDSD):
The STCW STSDSD course introduces students to the ISPS Code and security roles and responsibilities. The course explains how security systems work and teaches seafarers how to maintain the security plan conditions, undertake security inspections, and recognize and respond to security risks and threats.
Course Eligibility:
- The STCW course in Mumbai is required for all prospective and existing seafarers.
- INDOS Number is Mandatory.
- A Minimum 10th pass is desirable.
- All students must be in good physical health.

- Passport.
- Indian CDC Number (for Existing Seafarers).
- Medical Fitness Certificate (DGS-approved).

Upon successful completion of the STCW course in Mumbai, all candidates will be
issued MCA-approved STCW EFA, STCW PSSR, STCW FPFF, and STCW PST
Certificates for the STCW BST course and the STCW STSDSD Certificate.
The BST certificates will be valid for five years, after which you will be required to
undergo an STCW Refresher Course.
The STCW Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties
(STSDSD) Certificate will have lifetime validity.
